Podcasts are having a moment. It makes sense since they are the ultimate convenient listening. You can plug one in when you’re on your commute and be immersed in an abundance of knowledge in seconds. They can cover any topic you like from bodybuilding tips through to inspiring stories or celebrity interviews. Everyone is listening to them, and everyone is asking me for my top recommendations. So here they are, my top picks. I warn you it is an eclectic mix!

Control Alt Delete

This podcast is my current favourite. It is hosted by Emma Gannon (who you can read more about in my 5 people who inspire me blog post) who brings on inspiring and unique guests. She talks about a whole host of topics from blogging and business through to feminism and friendship. The heart of the podcast is the role of the internet and social media in changing and impacting peoples lives; from their careers through to their relationships. It is absolutely fascinating to listen to as someone who is so heavily involved in the online world, but I think everyone could gain motivation, inspiration and knowledge from the fascinating guests she interviews.

Ben Coomber Radio

If you want an accessible fitness podcast then this is the one for you. I have been listening to it for years and have quite literally heard every single episode! Ben is a performance nutritionist and coach and he brings on a variety of guests to discuss everything from exercise and performance through to mindset and self-care. He also takes listener questions and answers them using an evidence based approach. It is a great mix of longer interviews and shorter solo chats all of which feature a tonne of knowledge bombs. The podcast is a great mix of banter with in-depth advice and I always finish listening feeling like I have learned something new.

My Dad Wrote a Porno

Don’t let the title put you off!! This is one of the funniest podcasts I have ever heard in my life. I have lost count of the times I have quite literally cried laughing in public while plugged into this show. I warn you, you’ll get some funny looks on the tube! Basically, it is based around a porngraphic book the host Jamie Morton‘s dad wrote. He reads it out and analyses it with his co-hosts James and Alice. What ensues is a hilarious banter and a lot of cringe-worthy moments. It is absolute comedy gold.

Sigma Nutrition

This podcast is for the nutrition nerds out there. Sigma nutrition is by far the most legitimate fitness podcast around. The host Danny brings on key researchers in fields such as health, performance, nutrition and mindset. They then discuss recent evidence and reach in the field and end up educating the listeners to a whole new level. I personally feel like this podcast really helps me to keep on top of the latest breakthroughs and key issues in the field. If you’re into the science behind fitness and take an evidence based approach than this is the podcast for you.

TED Radio Hour

If you like TED Talks, you will love TED Radio Hour. Each episode focuses on a key topic such as happiness, power or success. The host Guy Raz will then interview key TED speakers who have touched on these topics to produce a show which is crammed full of inspiring stories, innovative approaches and motivational individuals. If you like to get a bit deep or even just to learn about new things, this is the podcast for you. It is really eye-opening and a great conversation starter. My favourite episode so far is actually the one on death as the guests he interviewed were absolute fascinating; it certainly gave me a lot to think about.

Happy listening!
