Three English Staycations To Add To Your Bucket List

Nothing quite beats a great British staycation. Here in the UK, we have beautiful landscapes, quaint villages and rugged coastlines right on our doorstep. You don’t need to travel far to experience something new, connect with nature and make lasting memories.

I have been lucky enough to explore many corners of the UK and some of my favourite trips have been those where I have stayed at Landal GreenParks resorts. There are numerous Landal locations across the UK including ones in Devon, Cornwall, Yorkshire, Northumberland, Cumbria, The Peak District and Scotland. Each has a focus not only on enabling guests to get outdoors but also indulging them in life’s little luxuries with cosy log fires and hot tubs under the stars. Bliss.

Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway, a family get-together or a group escape with friends – Landal GreenParks is the perfect place to escape to nature with your loved ones. Plus, Landal has forward-thinking eco-friendly principles such as their Green Pledge. They are committed to connecting their guests with nature while having a positive impact on the environment and are aiming to be carbon neutral across all their resorts by 2030.

Here are three Landal staycations you need to add to your bucket list!

one of the best uk staycation ideas - visit the peak district

The Peak District

Landal Darwin Forest is nestled within 47 acres of peaceful woodland right on the edge of the Peak District National Park, so it is the perfect base from which to explore the outdoors. The lodges are modern and luxurious with forest views, large outdoor decking and hot tubs under the trees. Plus, the park has numerous activities on site such as archery, swimming and cycle hire.

5 Things To Do In The Peak District:

1. Take a hike. Why not try the iconic Great Ridge path for some of the best views in The Peaks?

2. Cycle the Monsal trail, a beautiful bike path through a series of rolling valleys.

3. Visit Chatsworth House, the most iconic country estate complete with fountains, gardens and walking trails.

4. Go underground in one of the many caves. Speedwell Cavern is a unique choice as you can take a boat ride inside it!

5. Explore the quaint villages such as Castleton, Eyam, Tideswell and Bakewell (the birthplace of Bakewell tarts!).

best uk staycation ideas - cornwall for the beautiful beaches and rugged seascapes

Cornwall

Landal Gwel An Mor is in a prime location on the Cornish Coast, only a short walk from a beautiful beach. The luxury lodges have sea views, bubbling hot tubs and large sun decks for al fresco diving. Plus they are crafted using natural and sustainably sourced materials. Don’t miss out on the onsite activities which include swimming, tennis and bike hire.

5 Things To Do In Cornwall:

1. Swim in the sea. Cornwall is known for the ocean so get your swimmers on and dunk yourself in that fresh British water!

2. Walk a section of the South West Coast Path. The longest way-marked path in England and a National Trail which gives beautiful views.

3. Visit the iconic beaches. The Cornish coastline is stunning, my favorite beaches are Godrevy, Pedn Vounder and Watergate Bay.

4. Head to the Lizard Coast and walk from Lizard Point down to Kynance Cove to explore its caves & unique rock formations.

5. Walk over to St Michaels Mount, a tidal island with a castle which you can access on foot at low tide.

Northumberland

Landal Kielder Waterside is right in the heart of nature, located on the edge of the largest manmade lake in Northern Europe. It is the perfect place to connect with the outdoors as it is inside an international dark sky park and the region is home to over 50% of England’s native red squirrel population. Of course, the accommodation ticks all the boxes with hot tubs, outdoor decking and plenty of activities available on site, including a Segway experience.

5 Things To Do In Northumberland:

1. Explore Hadrian’s Wall, the iconic historic wall stretching from coast to coast. Make sure you don’t miss the beautiful Sycamore Gap.

2. Go for a hike, there are plenty of trails across the county. My favourite inland one passes Simonside and Dove Crag.

3. Drive a section of the NL250, a newly established road trip route which highlights the best of this underrated county.

4. Visit the castles. Northumberland is known for its abundance of historic castles, my favorites are Chillingham and Dunstanburgh.

5. Take a wild swim. There are plenty of spots for a dip along the coast, but why not try an inland waterfall like Hareshaw Linn.
